Meet Christine

When I signed up for my first yoga teacher training, I didn’t really understand anything about the heart and depth of yoga; I was into chasing fancy shapes. Beginning that first training, I was worried that I wouldn’t do well because I couldn’t do a handstand.

To this day, my handstand is kicking up to a wall and maybe balancing for a couple seconds at the most. And, doing it at all has completely faded as a priority. I’ve become more interested in the nuance of seemingly simple poses and all the subtle shifts that can drastically change what the pose feels like. My own practice has largely moved away from physically demanding shapes in favor of exploring and refining the mind-body-breath connection and how the poses feel, from the inside out. This outlook has dramatically influenced and altered the way in which I teach.

I strive to hold space in my classes that are welcoming and inspired, and I encourage each individual to honor their unique experiences and abilities. As my teacher says, “We’re not all constructed at Ikea.” I present an intentional sequence of yoga asana filled with variety and options. We move with flow, yet at a sensible pace. I like to think of my classes as a container in which students can hone their physical mobility, stability and strength, while also developing deeper mental clarity and emotional trust in the teacher that resides within them.

I teach yoga the same way I approach life off the mat - with sincerity and simplicity, and just the right doses of light-heartedness and fun. To me, yoga practice is a consistent place to return to that has made a really remarkable impact on my life. The fact that people trust me to share this practice with them has truly been one of the most humbling and fulfilling opportunities of my lifetime.

Thanks so much for being here. I hope to spend time with you soon.
